Fallbrook is an undiscovered gem in North San Diego County that is reminiscent of an early Ojai. A sleepy little stop near the 1-15 and recently remodeled Highway 76. Fallbrook’s downtown is not on any major highway route which only adds to the quaint small town feeling, yet not so far from the big cities of Los Angeles, San Diego or Orange County (All about 60-90 minutes).
Fallbrook is known for its rolling hills brimming with lush avocado groves, fruit orchards, nurseries, golf courses and even a few vineyards dot the landscape. Fallbrook claims the title of “Avocado Capital of the World” and it is often referred to as the “The Friendly Village” by the locals. The Avocado Festival is held in the downtown strip annually and frequently draws large crowds. In the summer time the town is host to “Hot Summer Nights” with vintage cars, food, wine and music for local families to enjoy.
Nature lovers will thrive in Fallbrook, with it’s abundance of horse farms, hiking trails and foliage. The Grand Tradition offers swan-studded lakes, impressive gardens, and several waterfalls. If nuptials are on the horizon then this is the place. For wine tasting and hands-on winery education a visit to Fallbrook Winery is very worthwhile. Several of their wines are award winners and are available at many of the local stores. Lastly, for ocean and beach lovers, its an easy to jaunt to Carlsbad, or Oceanside for walking, surfing or all water sports.
The laid back charm of Fallbrook has attracted a large number of resident artists highlighting a sampling of oils, drawings, sculptures, photography and many mixed media pieces. Fallbrook Art Center is the foundation of Fallbrook’s Art Scene where local showings often take place. The calibre of talent is very impressive and many pieces come affordably priced.
